Building a Holistic Performance Index for Construction Projects
Abstract
In the building sector, time and cost overruns are still ongoing difficulties; hence, good project management depends critically on accurate evaluation of project performance. Usually, project success is measured in several performance criteria: cost, schedule, quality, safety, and others as well. This research suggests the construction of a thorough Project Performance Index (PPI) methodically combining these important performance criteria. By means of a frequency-based analysis of their occurrence in the current literature, one finds the relative weight of every element. The final index presents a complete method for assessing and contrasting the performance of building projects, so giving researchers and practitioners trying to improve project results a useful instrument.
